1. A journey towards graph data science: from theory to practice

概要

グラフデータサイエンスが次第にポピュラーになっています。このアプローチの成功の背景には、どのような理由があるのでしょうか。その原理はどうなっているのでしょうか？どのような技術やテクニックがそれを支えているのでしょうか。この講演では、グラフの必要性を分かりやすくするために現実世界の事例からグラフデータサイエンスの話をします。複雑なネットワークシステムをモデル化するネットワークサイエンスの基礎的な役割と、それによって生成されたデータから知識を抽出するグラフデータサイエンスの役割について話します。次に、技術的な観点から、グラフデータサイエンスの実践を可能にする主なツールや技術であるグラフデータベース、グラフアルゴリズム、グラフ可視化について、Neo4jとそのグラフデータサイエンスフレームワークを中心に紹介します。

最後に、Galileo.XAIプラットフォームでこれらのアイデアを実際に使ってみる実践的なセッションをします。グラフデータサイエンスのアプローチで効果的に取り組むことができる実際のユースケースをいくつか紹介しながら、このプラットフォームがいかに簡単かつ直感的な方法でグラフ構造データの分析をサポートしているかを紹介します。

Graph data science is becoming more popular day after day. What are the reasons that lay behind the success of this approach? What are its principles? What technologies and techniques power it? In this talk we will take a journey towards graph data science, starting from real world examples to highlight the need for graphs. We will discuss the foundational role of network science in modeling complex network systems and the one of graph data science in extracting knowledge from data generated by them. We will then undertake a technological perspective, presenting the main tools and techniques that enable graph data science in practice: graph databases, graph algorithms and graph visualization, with a focus on Neo4j and its graph data science framework.

We will finally move on to a practical session where we will showcase these ideas in action within the Galileo.XAI platform. We will show how this platform supports analysis of graph-structured data in an easy and intuitive way by presenting some real world use cases that can be effectively tackled with a graph data science approach.
